CPZI - CENTER FOR THE POPULARIZATION OF SCIENCE AND INNOVATION OF THE REGION OF ISTRIA

The Center for the Popularization of Science and Innovation of the Region of Istria was established by the Istrian Development Agency and the Association of Technical Culture Pula in May 2015. IDA helped to equip the Center as part of the Smartinno European project (Adriatic Cross-border Cooperation Program) while the Pula Association of Technical Culture has been able to renovate the building. The purpose of establishing this kind of center is to promote interest in science among children and young people, as well as early guidance of gifted children in science in collaboration with professional mentors.

The center consists of several units, physics, chemistry, mechanics, thermodynamics, electromagnetism, and through its constant set of interesting experiments, workshops and lectures, it helps educational institutions to make their program tasks easier and to further popularize science. Visits are successfully carried out at least twice a week, and since the beginning of the Center, more than 6.500 students within more than 1.300 working hours from various schools in the Region of Istria have taken practical classes in physics and chemistry.

IDA's activities:

  • technical and advisory support to the Association of Technical Culture Pula
  • establishing a cooperation network and assisting in the preparation of new projects with the aim of securing funding sources for the additional equipping and functioning of the Center
  • participation in international projects funded by EU funds
  • managing and updating the Center's website
